Children’s Support Worker

Be That Someone Who Makes a Child Feel Safe and Loved
Some jobs fill your time. This one fills your heart.

In our homes, we welcome children and young people who’ve experienced some really tough things, and what they need most is love wrapped in consistency.  Patience. Understanding.  And adults who genuinely care.

We’re looking for kind, steady, down-to-earth people to join our small, loving homes for children.  Homes that feel like family.  Where young people can laugh, rest, grow, and start to believe in themselves, because someone believed in them first.

Some of the children we support have learning disabilities, autism, or complex emotional needs.  What they all have in common is this: they need adults who see them, and who hold them in mind, stay close, and gently guide them forward.

It’s about being that person in a child’s life who stays, who sees beyond the surface, who shows up on the hard days as much as the good ones.

What the role is really about

As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be part of the daily rhythm of a child’s life.  Getting them up for school.  Making breakfast together.  Singing in the car.  Sitting quietly when they need space.  Talking things through when the world feels too big.  Celebrating the smallest victories.  Comforting them when things go wrong.  Making a house feel like home.

You’ll work in a small and reflective team of adults, each trained in therapeutic approaches that help us really understand how children communicate their needs, even without words.  You’ll get to know each young person deeply, and offer them the steady, loving care that helps them feel safe and accepted, just as they are.

What your days will look like:

Every day is different, but every day is an opportunity to make a child feel safe, cared for, and genuinely valued.

You will:

  • Share meals, stories, laughs, and quiet moments
  • Help with morning routines and school runs
  • Support children to enjoy activities and hobbies, try new things and build confidence in their own time
  • Help build life skills like cooking, tidying, making choices and feeling proud
  • Help track progress and celebrate growth, no matter how big or small
  • Support with personal care when needed, always gently and respectfully
  • Being there during the tough moments, when big feelings show up in big ways
  • Listening deeply, not just to words, but to body language, silence, and emotions
  • Writing daily notes and working as a team to reflect on what’s working
  • Keeping our home warm, tidy, and a space for flourishing
  • Bringing your whole self, your humour, your care, your gentleness
  • You’ll also be part of a supportive team who reflect together, grow together, and always keep the children at the centre of everything we do.

What matters to us is who you are

We’re not looking for perfect. We’re looking for real people, with kind hearts, steady hands, and the courage to care deeply.

You might be a parent, a youth worker, a teaching assistant, or someone with no formal experience at all, but you know how to be present, patient, and warm, especially when things are hard.

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Kind, calm, and good with people
  • Patient, especially when things are hard
  • Willing to listen and keep learning
  • Comfortable working shifts, including some weekends and sleep-ins
  • Calm, grounded, and emotionally available
  • Willing to learn and grow, personally and professionally
  • Able to offer consistency, love, and structure, over and over again

In return, we’ll offer you:

  • A team who will support you through the tough days, laugh with you, empower you to learn and develop
  • Full training, including therapeutic skills and emotional understanding so you feel confident and safe in your role
  • Regular reflection and space to grow
  • A real sense of purpose
  • A chance to be part of something that truly matters
  • The chance to gain qualifications as you work
  • A workplace where your voice matters, just like the children’s
  • And most importantly: the deep joy of helping a child feel at home

If you’ve ever thought, “I just want to help children feel safe, loved, and like they matter”, this could be exactly where you’re meant to be.
